FReeZA is a Victorian Government initiative that supports young
Victorians to get involved in their community by planning and
running drug, smoke and alcohol free music and cultural events for
other young people.
It gives young Victorians practical opportunities to extend
their abilities, develop confidence and leadership skills, as well
as see the range of talent on show for young people.
The FReeZA program allows young people to plan, stage and
participate in a diverse range of artistic, cultural and
recreational activities that are drug, alcohol and smoke free, in
supervised and safe venues.
FReeZA aims to encourage interaction between young people and
Government, improve the support services available to young people
and create effective pathways to employment and training. FReeZA
also recognises the importance of acknowledging the contributions
made by young people to the community and of celebrating and
is the City of Ballarat Youth Services' FReeZA committee.
FReeZA is young people planning and staging safe music, skate and
other events for young people in their local community.
Sonika meet regulary and work with a project worker to plan
various projects and events and gain event management skills.
Sonika members are able to participate in a range of training such
as FReeZA | The Push - which provides accredited training
opportunities, recognised by employers.
Sonika also runs a range of free or cheap all ages events that are
drug, alcohol and smoke free.
